Gearing Up for a Hat-Trick at the 2019 Silver Secateurs Competition

In the name of “better late than never” we are pleased to report that Thornhill dominated the results board in both 2017 and 2018 of the Silver Secateurs competition, and preparation is underway to make that a hat-trick at this year’s event.

Having started in 1995, the pruning competition was established to improve quality and provide recognition within the New Zealand viticulture industry. In addition to this it’s a chance for communities to show up in support of the people responsible for New Zealand’s tens of millions of vines and to let the workers, many of whom are in New Zealand as part of the RSE scheme, have some fun and show of their skills.

We believe our success comes down to the finely-tuned processes in which we use to carry out the work on a daily basis. The level of training we provide equips our workforce with the skills and knowledge to ensure productivity is high. Watching these guys perform the last two years, and they way in which they methodically and efficiently carry out the work, makes us very proud of the standard we uphold. The 2019 competition date is yet to be confirmed, but we look forward to reporting back with some fantastic results in the coming months.
